Most people do not know that we have such a beautiful and interesting garden at Open Door - Berkhamsted's best kept secret! Everyone is welcome to come along any time during opening hours to enjoy the community garden - perhaps with a cuppa and cake from our café!
Or, perhaps you'd like to get involved with the garden, you can see here how much work our volunteer garden team have done - either get in touch at [email protected] or see the volunteer sessions we have below.
Berkhamsted Town Council winner!
We're delighted that the hard work of our volunteer gardening team resulted in us winning a local competition in the summer of 2023! Judges from Berkhamsted Town Council awarded the Open Door Community Café Garden as one of two winners in the Gardens for Nature Competition, in the Community Garden Category. The judges were really impressed with the thought given to create a garden by the community for the community. They loved the bug hotel, hedgehog house, pond with great plant and wildlife diversity, the growing of tasty produce for use in the kitchen, and the wonderful (bee friendly) flowers interspersed with veg. Thank you Berkhamsted Town Council and Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust!
